ANNUAL REPORT TO THE COMMUNITY: 2025 SNAPSHOT
2025, our twentieth year, was a continued year of rebuilding for the Community Center, a two-year process that was capped off with our twentieth anniversary celebrations in November and December.
We started the year facing hostility and headwinds from the highest levels of our federal government, a galvanizing turn of events that led us to fight even harder on behalf of all of us.
Increased hours, giving the community access to the Community Center seven days a week. More than 4,200 crossed our threshold.
Led the transformation of uptown Kingston’s Stockade District with the demolition of our 1970s-era Pike Plan awning. This allowed us, for the first time ever, to recast our historic façade to highlight both the strength and solidity of our community – an important beacon for residents, transplants and visitors alike.
Dramatically increased the number of individuals, couples and families receiving free mental health counseling.
Initiated Seasons of Change, a structured eight-week group counseling program
Launched Queer Kinship, offering support to queer youth and their parents and caregivers
Cataloged our Mayo Library collection of over 3,200 books and created a searchable online catalog that allows people to borrow from our collection.
Created a youth library – a unique offering among LGBTQ+ community centers.
Launched Standing on the Shoulders of Heroes, an exhibit featuring nationally-known LGBTQ+ icons alongside local icons, each of which was honored by the Community Center
Provided J. Tracy Hermann Scholarships to five queer students in the Hudson Valley and Catskills.
Hosted over forty guests on Out in the Valley, our weekly show on Radio Kingston.
Presented “Our Stories: Twenty Years of Pride, Progress and Purpose,” which was held at the Culinary Institute of America celebrating the organization’s milestone anniversary and honoring our local heroes.
Produced the first-ever Hudson Valley Pride March in Kingston.
