Angelee [ON-juh-lee] was raised in the Sullivan Catskills, a small region of the Hudson Valley that she feels is often excluded from inclusion in the greater area. Hoping to help bridge those gaps in access for fellow LGBTQ+ residents of her neighborhood and beyond, Angelee joined the Board in 2024 in the spirit of dedicated service and advocacy. A thanatologist by vocation, she has worked in the healthcare sector for a decade and brings a breadth of experience in Board governance and nonprofit management to her work. With special interests in aging, advanced illness, spiritual care and bereavement, Angelee is deeply committed to expanding access to health supports throughout the lifespan for marginalized populations and promoting innovative ways of belonging in our shared world.
A fierce champion of public higher education as a later-in-life learner, Angelee holds a BS in Healthcare Management and Aging in Society from SUNY College of Technology at Canton and an MS in Palliative Care, Aging and Applied Thanatology from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She credits her LGBTQ+ (Lesbian) identity, half Puerto Rican background, and many intergenerational friendships as her greatest sources of learning. Angelee and her long-term partner are cinephiles who collect physical media on Blu-ray and DVD and connect with pen pals all over the world to discuss the art of film. She also enjoys sports, crosswords and trivia tournaments. Outside of the Hudson Valley region, Angelee proudly volunteers as the President of the Board of Directors for South Park Senior Citizens in Seattle and is pursuing her CT (Certified in Thanatology) credential from the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC), of which she is a member.
