Queer Kinship

The place for parents, caregivers and grandparents of LGBTQIA+ children looking for support or to connect with others — and for LGBTIA+ kids and youth to come together with others like them.

Raising a child is a journey filled with learning, love, and discovery — and when your child comes out as LGBTQ+, that journey may include new questions, challenges and opportunities for growth. Queer Kinship is designed to provide a safe, understanding and educational space for parents, caregivers and grandparents of LGBTQ+ children and youth.

Queer Kinship offers:

  • Confidential Support Groups – Connect with other parents who are navigating similar experiences in a counselor-facilitated support group. Share stories, ask questions, and receive support in a nonjudgmental, compassionate environment.

  • One-on-One Support – Personalized guidance from our staff and peers who can help you understand your child’s needs and provide practical tools for strengthening your relationship and supporting your child.

  • Community Resources – Access referrals to inclusive mental health professionals, LGBTQ+ youth programs and local advocacy organizations.

  • Childcare and Youth Activities – Each month, while parents meet, Queer Kinship will offer educator-led childcare and supervised activities for youth. It’s a great opportunity for LGBTQ+ children and youth (and their siblings) to spend time with others like them.

Whether you're just beginning to understand your child’s identity or are looking for ways to deepen your support, and no matter your child’s age, our program is here to walk alongside you. We believe that every child deserves to be seen, accepted, and loved — and that every parent deserves the support they need to fully embrace their child.

Queer Kinship meets on the fourth Sunday of each month at the Community Center from 9 to 10am. There is no charge for the program. Breakfast and coffee provided.
