Fourth Annual Come OUT & Find OUT Conference a Success
| The Center’s fourth annual Come OUT & Find OUT conference was held at the Holiday Inn in Kingston on November 7. The day included a keynote address by longtime LGBT legal activist Paula Ettelbrick, and workshops on everything from Creating Community and Finding Feminism to Queer Ideas on Legal and Financial Issues and the Work of the GSA. |
Based on comments from the nearly 150 attendees, this year’s conference was an overwhelming success. From the keynote to the closing remarks by Board President Ginny Apuzzo, the conference informed and inspired participants. As one man expressed it, "The conference continues to affirm and inform, as it brings our community together for a real purpose." Other comments included: “very enlightening,” “stimulating conversation/ideas/questions,” "inspired by Paula Ettelbrick,” "a springboard for action,” "consciousness raised by Ignacio Rivera” and “LOVED Outcomes!” Straight allies who attended had favorable comments, such as "I developed a greater sensitivity and awareness about LGBTQ issues, the need for equality and justice." |
