Marcuse Pfeifer
Marcuse Pfeifer, a native of Arkansas, graduated from Sarah Lawrence College and lived in the East most of her life. The owner of a landmark photography gallery in New York, widely known for the first Male Nude exhibition presented in her Madison Avenue space in 1978.
Always politically active, Cusie began moderating panels on First Amendment Rights in the 1980s when censorship of fine art was a major political agenda. This work led to her participation on a panel about censorship at the Gay Academic Conference (Harvard, 1990).
She has also been a guest of the City of Paris at the Mois de la Photo where she spoke at the Sorbonne. Cusie is also one of only five gallery owners worldwide invited to exhibit at the Rencontre d'Arles as well as the first International Photo Fest in Turin. She served two terms as President of the Association of International Photography Art Dealers.
Cusie is a founding member of the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center.
